Our vision and purpose!

The media team is comprised of both audio & visual components. Members of these teams help the congregation hear and see the message clearly. Our goal is to communicate effectively through the use of the Technical Arts. This includes video, audio, graphics, lighting, and consistently excellent technical support. We strive to enhance our worship experience, without drawing attention to the media itself.

Our corporate worship experience also includes original videos for song support, message support, and ministry spotlights.  Our worship services today would not be what they are without our volunteer media staff. Our Technical Teams include Sound Technicians, Computer Operators, Video Mixing Operators, Lighting Operators, and Production Crews.  The Media Team volunteer serves one to two times a month on Sundays or Fridays throughout the year.

Media Team volunteers serve in three different venues of worship.  The main campus on Midway Blvd. has two worship venues- the Worship Center and the Cafe. The third worship venue is in Punta Gorda at our satellite site at the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association. Celebrate Recovery meets on Friday nights for worship and also requires a full media crew for audio, cameras, lighting and computer operation.

Media Team volunteers work on a rotating schedule basis. Consideration is always given to the volunteer’s availability and amount of time they feel they want to commit to the Media Team ministry. Media Team members are required to attend the worship team rehearsals in the week they are scheduled. This gives everyone a chance to run through the worship service that is planned for the upcoming Sunday.

Media Team members will be given the opportunity to train in various ways. The simplest way of training is hands-on during rehearsals and worship services with an experienced technician.  We won't turn you loose until you feel comfortable and ready to take the controls.  We also have quarterly meetings where we get together for fellowship, training, a meal, and an awards presentation.  The Media Department values our team members, we know they are offering their service to the Lord, and we are blessed to work along side of such a fine crew!

What are the ministry areas of the Media Team?

 4

Sound Operators: The audio team sets up sound equipment and checks for readiness. They operate the sound board. Sound mixing, EQ, (equalization) microphone and instrument input are essential components of this ministry.

Computer operators: Operate the PowerPoint/Graphics/Text & Images programs. These programs are all integrated into one software program called SongShowPlus. The computer team prepares lyrics, clip art, and announcement slides for worship. Sermon notes are prepared by the computer team, song texts are input into the service order, graphic backgrounds are utilized to enhance the sermon or series theme.

Camera Teams: operate all cameras. In addition to two state-of-the-art Canon video cameras, First Alliance has two SONY robotic cameras. Talk about cool! This gives our worship in both the main worship center and the video café simulcast multiple angles for worship. A total of four cameras are used each Sunday. All camera crew members receive training on how to operate cameras as well as for framing and exposure. Each camera crew member wears a headset allowing two-way communication with the service director.

Videographers: Develop video interviews, vignettes, announcements, and splice sermon movie clips; record events and services. People on this team will produce and present to the congregation video announcements and short special videos to help communicate with the congregation and enhance their worship experience. This team will plan and produce their own videos, from script writing and shooting video (if needed), to editing the final product and present it to the congregation! Individuals may choose to do an entire feature themselves, or collaborate with other people.

Lighting Operators: Design the lighting for particular services to emphasize Biblical points, focus of worship, dramas and preaching. Lighting is operated from the Media Center Control Room, located in the back of the worship center.  The operator controls a central light mixer for dimming and increasing light on the platform and in the worship center.

Director: Makes live creative calls of shots between cameras, graphics, and other elements of production. This person is responsible for creative quality of taping.  The Director is responsible for coordination with the Worship Pastor and communicating the events of the service to each team member.

Technical Director/Switcher: Switches cameras and video playback upon command of the director during taping of worship services.

Stage Manager: Works with the Worship Pastor, Director and Robotic Camera Operators to ensure a clean visual stage appearance.  Positions microphones, podium, props, lights candles, etc. for the service.  Also ensures that the video receiver equipment is turned on at the proper time for others to receive the service broadcasts.

Media Techs: Works at our Punta Gorda or Midway Campus cafe setting.  Controls sound, lighting, computer and video playback.  This position is a "does it all" type position.

DVR Runner: Transports recorded service to our Punta Gorda Campus for playback when a live service isn't presented.
